In order to actively prepare for SDC2021, the BJTU+ team invited Mrs. Zhang Chunmei from the Chan Cheung Mun Chung Charitable Fund and Mr. Chen Huanyu, who became the co-founder of the architectural design firm, to give lectures on water supply, environmental sanitation and sanitation promotion and post-disaster placement of tent board houses.
Chan Cheung Mun Chung Charitable Fund of Hong Kong, China has been strategically supporting universities and organizations in Hong Kong and the Mainland for many years, carrying out regionally influential ecological construction, post-disaster reconstruction and other related research and development, demonstration and community building work, continuing the founder Mr. Chen Kongming The original intention of "compassionate, helping the weak and the needy".
At present, the world is facing major challenges. At the same time, we also need to deal with climate change, natural disasters and conflicts that may damage key infrastructure (such as energy). We seek the best solution strategy for energy use in exploration, and participate in thinking about ways to achieve sustainable development.
Although it had to take the form of an online conference due to the epidemic, the meticulous preparation of Mr. Chunmei and Mr. Huanyu and the active participation of the students made the lecture lively and active.
For ecological construction and post-disaster reconstruction related work, the two teachers have rich practical experience and accumulation of theoretical literacy. At the same time, their years of research directions are consistent with SDC's sustainable building concepts. In the three hours of precious time, the two teachers shared what they saw, heard, thoughts and insights, full of dry goods and lively and interesting lectures, making time fly by without knowing it. In the last link, the two teachers also answered our questions and provided valuable guidance for the next work of the SDC BJTU+ team.
The theme brought by Zhang Chunmei is "WASH (Water Supply, Environmental Sanitation and Sanitation Promotion)", focusing on a series of post-disaster humanitarian rescue needs, providing corresponding solutions, focusing on water supply, environmental sanitation and sanitation promotion. We also learned about the measures and programs adopted by the Sphere, the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent (IFRC) and the Chinese Red Cross (RCSC) in the WASH project.
For the WASH project, the construction of toilets is indispensable, because it is directly related to the needs of the victims and public health is of special importance. So Mr. Zhang also emphatically introduced some indicators and precautions in toilet construction. Most of the students have been exposed to relevant knowledge for the first time and have benefited a lot.
What Mr. Chen Huanyu brought to us was his valuable experience after field investigation and thinking and the project results worth learning. After personally researching and visiting the Lushan Stadium resettlement area and Ya'an Lingguan resettlement area, Mr. Chen told us that he learned a lot from these real life cases. His next plan design is an excellent result after research and thinking.
Through the study of these actual cases, everyone learned not only the design method of post-disaster resettlement buildings, but also the method of research and thinking, which will have a good inspiration for future competition and study work.
